Twenty-four hours before the public launch of
Sugru as a commercial retail product,
FormFormForm has already seen its shelves cleared of this remarkable new mouldable and adhesive silicone, which has been described as being "
the best thing since Sellotape and Blu-Tack".
Advance publicity has meant that Jane ni Dhulchaointigh and her team have already sold the first run of 1,000 packs of Sugru (at £7/pack for ten sachets).
Industrial Design website,
Core77.com described Sugru as "Play-Doh for industrial designers" and as being "like consumer-ready modelling clay for designer hacks".
The
Gadget Lab at
Wired.com writes, "Sugru is a brand new modeling clay that has me absurdly excited. Why?
Because it is something I have wanted since forever, only I didn’t even
know it."
Harry Wallop, Consumer Affairs Editor at
The Daily Telegraph, interviewed Jane for a piece published on 1st December, and the article and a videoclip of her interview can be viewed
here.
